REVIEW: Greenhouse Tavern

I’m Cleveland to the core & was pretty excited to see yet ANOTHER chef that calls CLE home get an opportunity to showcase their skills on the Food Network. Johnathan Sawyer, owner of NoodleCat & Greenhouse Tavern, recently competed in Iron Chef America and put in a good showing.

SO I finally ate at GREENHOUSE TAVERN last night.

-The lamb burger was different (not really in a good way, just in a different way)

-the wings were good but MAD CRAZY salty, I couldn’t handle eating them (and I eat, man).

-The animal frites were great (when they were hot).

-The stoner sandwich was AMAZING (but about the size of a mini eggo waffle)

These were all off of the happy hour menu, which may be why they weren’t mind bogglingly prepared.

The staff was pretty cool, nice but not overly friendly. they never asked us if we wanted drinks so we just drank water with our food. the hostess skillfully drew a pig in like 14 minutes.

The regular menu probably has very well prepared & delicious items…but I most likely won’t try it again.

The flavors, while innovative, weren’t really consistent: some bites of the lamb burger were a struggle to get down while others were beyond reproach, the first wing I ate almost made me stop eating it was so salty (the next one was more evenly seasoned, but the third & fourth were salty again).

That being said, my friend who I took said everything was like a mouth orgasm.

But for my money, I get better tasting food (and if you order the chefs whim, just as innovative) in more bountiful portions at Reddstone. Or Sokolowki’s. The atmosphere in Greenhouse IS super dope though.

I did get to see chef Sawyer when I came in, I said hello & didn’t get a response back. He was probably busy and definitely really short.

I wish we would have gone to Noodlecat instead! I’m a fan of their Ramen.

Kids are hilarious

My oldest nephew Josiah flicked me in the head yesterday and of course, I pled vengeance.

Later when he was punching me in the stomach, I blasted him in the forehead with a flick. He turned away and his eyes started watering. I felt bad. My sister & Antonio started laughing. I was laughing and feeling bad. But still laughing.

I told Tonio to be quiet, because he cries when I tell him to turn off the xbox.

Josiah yelled out from the other room ‘Yeah, and mom cries over dad all the time’

bwahahahahahahaha.
